Bone  Marrow  Aspirate  Therapy

A new breakthrough non surgical treatment for the repair of rotator cuff injuries in the shoulder, meniscal tears in the knee, and joint osteoarthritis has been supported by several studies.
For years, treatments for knee and shoulder injuries were very limited. The patient either received physical therapy and cortisone shots, or was referred to surgery. Now there is an exciting new non surgical option called Bone Marrow Aspirate Therapy.
What is highly appealing about this treatment is that the healing substance is inside the patient himself. This treatment is not a synthetic drug or a chemical. This is also not a surgical procedure, therefore the need for general anesthesia and long recovery times are avoided. A patient can return to work within a couple of days.
A sample of patient’s Bone Marrow Cells is obtained from the bone marrow or from fat sources. Special centrifuge machine aides in extracting, concentrating, and purifying the Bone Marrow Cells, growth factor proteins, and healing cells. This healing solution is injected into the site of injury using ultrasound guidance.
Bone Marrow Aspirate Therapy is part of an exciting new field in medicine called Regenerative Medicine. In traditional medical treatments the goal is to reduce the pain and inflammation. In Bone Marrow Aspirate Therapy the goal is to rebuild and repair injured tissues. This results in not only long term pain relief but a significant restoration of normal function.
Not everyone is a candidate for this treatment. Careful review of your past medical history and physical examination is needed to decide if you are an appropriate candidate for this treatment.
